I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 11,500,000 surviving rcds for abt 60% of Irish counties. Rcds B4 1840 are sparse. 18th Cent rcds are rare indeed.

For William Moffett, the earliest B rcd in this database is for 1822. There are several William Moffetts and other forenames for which no yr is listed. This srname if rare in Ireland; there are only 146 B and 479 M rcds between 1700 and 1920. It is likely that they are all cousins.

Suggest you google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
