I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 11,500,000 surviving rcds for abt 60% of Irish counties. Rcds B4 1840 are sparse. 18th Cent rcds are rare indeed.

The Burnside surname is rare in Ireland and concentrated in the Ulster region. This suggests an English or Scotch origin. There are 245 B and 238 M rcds in this database, but none for Robert in the relevant era.

Suggest you google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
