MOFFETTs in Legogowan; possible epidemics

I find postings that suggest that William Moffett was b 1763 in Saintfield Legogowan Down, abt 1 mile fn Belfast; he sailed to Philadelphia Pennsylvania in Spring of 1784 eventually settling in Bath County Kentucky. The posting also state that his parents were: father James Moffatt b abt 1720 in Legogowan and d. there 22 Jul 1789; mother Jane Bingham b. 1722 in Belfast, d. 20 Jul 1789. No one of course ever provides documentation. Would appreciate any leads at all on this family, e.g. church denomination and location, census, tax, landholders, etc. I've had no luck so far.
Also, since both died two days apart in July 1789, I wonder if anyone knows what was happening in the area at the time re: epidemics, etc.
