Delighted to hear from you (first time user). John Sanderson (my ggggrandfather)had a daughter named Camilla who wrote a book called John Sanderson, The First. It focuses on his second family with Jane Knowlsen (from Yorkshire). According to the book, he emigrated about 1831 with Rachel with whom he had 11 children, of whom 3 survived. There is a poignant description of the couple visiting the graveyard in Church Hill to say good by to their deceased children. Rachel died in 1838 and he married Jane in 1840 with whom he had 6 more children. He was a Wesleyan Methodist and served in the Peterborough, Ontario area as a popular preacher. My descent comes from Matthew Sanderson, son of the 2nd marriage.

Do you know more about John Sanderson's antecedents? You have at least given me his father's name (source?). Thanks - Jeanette Springer
