From the Inishmacsaint Parish Church I received baptismal confirmations for John (16-3-1815), Jane (24-3-1818), George (24-6-1821), and Frances (20-7-1828). We visited about 12 years ago.

Camilla Sanderson's book speaks of 11 children to this couple. She mentions that Margaret died at sea (presume 1831). John, George, and William all are mentioned as half-brothers in Canada; therefore, I presume they were part of the immigrant group. The "first born" was buried in Church Hill (but that may have meant more than one). Another child, Eliza, was born to the couple in Canada about 1833 (and later raised by her step-mother, Jane Knowlsen. That accounts for 7 of Rachel's children. The "three surviving children" as well as the "11" come from John Sanderson's obituary in 1880.

Is William Sanderson the father of Christopher, grandfather of John? Were you able to find the Sanderson Family Tree without going to Belfast? (I live in WA state). PRONI has not been on my radar but looking at the site just now I couldn't tell how to find anything useful.

I don't know when Rachel was born. Son William is mentioned as going into the ministry, John became a Roman Catholic to the horror of his parents but he helped them financially later in life, Eliza got married at 16 rather than pursuing the education her father had arranged.

Thanks - Jeanette Springer
