I am looking for information on Joseph McDermott and the above listed associated families. Joseph McDermott was born about 1820 - he listed his birthplace as "Drumbuegagh" (as far as I can make out) in records of his marriage to Isabel Porter in Fermanagh in 1846. Isabel was born in 1825 in Ulster, daughter of Thomas Porter (b 1792 in Fermanagh) and Jane Wasson. Her siblings include Isabel, Anne, Jane, Richard, William). Isabel and Joseph emigrated to the US in 1854-1855; most likely from Londonderry to Philadelphia. At approximately the same time, Isabels' parents (Thomas Porter and Jane Wasson), Mary Porter (possibly a cousin of Isabel) and her husband George Clark and daughter Mary Jane (b 1853) (other children possibly born in Ireland: Adele, Willie, George, Fred, Thomas, Sydney, Joseph, Mary Belle (Mabel), Elizabeth (Bessie). Jane Wassons' brother Andrew had emigrated in 1850 - other siblings migrated about the same time as Jane (John, Samuel, and Margaret) Most of these families settled in the Finger Lakes Region of New York state (Hornby, Steuben Co, NY; Schuyler Co, NY, Reading Center, etc) Samuel settled in Brooklyn Place names associated; Co Tyrone, Fermanagh, Londonderry, Ulster, Ireland other family names: McCutcheon Notify Administrator about this message?
