Hello Stephen,

Drumlish and many surrounding towns were located in the civil parish of Killoe when Patrick Kenny, Sarah Cassidy, and their children had lived there in the 19th century. You may be able to find information about all these ancestors by searching the Catholic Church parish registers for the several chapels that were located within the Killoe civil parish.

The Latter Day Saints (LDS) have filmed these parish registers, some with indexes, which you can order from your local Family History Center. Perhaps some of the children of Patrick and Sarah were baptized in one of these chapels. And Patrick and Sarah's baptism records may also be in one of the registers, provided they were born in the Killoe civil parish area.

Please see below for information and microfilm numbers of the Catholic registers of Killoe available on micofilm:

In addition to the church registers, I found the birth registers indexes of the four children of Patrick and Sarah that you had mentioned in your query to the Genealogy Forum. All of the indexes come with source microfilm numbers. The full birth records will be recorded on these microfilms, also available from your local Family History Center.

The indexes show that the children were born not only in Longford, but also in County Leitrim and in County Fermanagh, which is in present day Northern Ireland. County Leitrim is located between Longford to its south, and Fermanagh to its northeast.

Below are the birth record indexes for Catherine, Jane, Patrick, and Bridget Kenny. These indexes were located at the free familysearch website at:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

The indexes are from the civil registration registers. Civil registration for all religious denominations in Ireland began in 1864. There would be no civil birth record for James, as he was born in 1861, three years before civil registration commenced. However, if his birth occurred in Drumlish, his baptism may be in one of the church parish registers on microfilm noted earlier.

Please see below for the birth indexes of the four Kenny children:

As you can see there is a gap of years between the births of Patrick and Bridget. It is feasible that more children were born between 1869 and 1875, as you had indicated. If any other children of Patrick and Sarah were born in Longford, their baptisms may also have been recorded in one of the parish registers for the Killoe civil parish.

Best Wishes Stephen,

Dave Boylan
