I have to apologize for such a delay in answering you. I live in Iowa, in the U.S., and the June inclement weather disrupted our computer service, plus I was on vacation for 3 weeks. The computers did NOT come back on line until @ Aug. 20th. What I found was even more than I'd hoped, and it laid to rest one myth of our family, that being the County Mayo connection. Our Kearns/Kerns/Cairnes roots come from County MEATH/Monoghan. I'd always wondered about the "Mayo" root, simply because there is NO "Catholic" conection, except by "conversions" for marriage, in the Kerns line. The affiliation in religion is Methodist, Lutheran, or Baptist. The Monoghan to Meath to the U.S. makes sense to me,NOW! My male ancestors, going backwards and STARTING at my GRANDMOTHER are, Opal Mae Kerns, Francis Albert Kerns, John Henry Kerns, Isaac Albert Kerns, William Isaac Kerns, William Kerns( born in County Meath)to Patrick and Rebecca Cairnes from County Monoghan. That's as far as I've been able to trace so far, and that take me back to @ 1718. Patrck and Rebecca came to the U.S. in @ 1768. They had 7 sons by then. William was the youngest, as far as I can gather. I Really appreciate your information, and Thank you!----N
