Griffiths Valuation was an abbreviated census focused on identifying property owners, and perhaps a few tenants. It usually identifies only the principal, in this case the father. The unstated purpose of Griffith's was to provide data for possible taxation.

It does list some info which will help your search in the far future. This info is the parish and county. The Irish Family History Foundation is creating a geneological database of BMD rcds for all of Ireland. Only a few counties and parts of others are not yet in the database.

Unfortunately, Co. Monaghan rcds will NOT be digitized soon. No county organization has been created yet to manage the rcd transcription process for Monaghan rcds.

You have two short term alternatives. The first is to contact the Parish of Aghabog priest. These authorities don't put a high priority on such requests.

The second is to contact the LDS Family History Center near you. The FHC has access to microfilmed copies of the original records. These are indexed and sorted. These are copies of rcds of birth, marriage, and a few death events.
