Unless someone recognizes your names, your answers would only be found in paper trails.
You need to post John's children's names and DOB's. Did John emigrate? Where? Died where?
Did you take notes on Wm's children (was a John a godparent)?

I think his is a great idea because although you may initially only have the surnames of one couple from Carlow, as you learn of both of their parents names that adds in two other surnames. A list that we could check for "past email names" is great.
Here are my entries:

Hi all,
I have only just started researching my Irish families.
I have a marriage cert for a lass in Australia and it states she was born
County Carlow, Ire. about 1835. I have located the ship that she came over
to Vic on in 1853 with her three younger siblings. have found a re-marriage
for her mother who arrived in Victoria about two years earlier and a
probable entry for this mother in Carlow in 1848. I am looking for info. re
her birth and parents marriage. Her name is Harriette Ann ROSE, siblings
Frederick Augustus, Sarah Jane and William Henry. Mother: Mary Ann ROSE nee
McQUADE. Father: John ROSE. They were not Catholic.
Could anyone give me some idea about where I might start?
