Hi, John Cloonan (father Christopher & mother Este or Ester-last name unknown) and Mary Handy married in county Offaly. They left Ireland with their 3 daughters Bridget (or Celia) b. 1860 and Catherine b. 1862 Teresa (or Esther) b. 1864 and settled in New York City in 1866. After arriving in NYC they had the following children - Christopher, Andrew, Margaret, and Mary also known as Mamie. They also had three other sons - Patrick, Patrick and John. I do not know where they were born. Teresa Cloonan was baptised at the Church of St. Bridgit of Clara in the Diocese of Meath in April 1862 but she is listed as Esther on the certificate. Her sponsors were John Handy and Bridgit Handy. Ships manifest and U.S. Census records have Esther listed as Teresa. Bridgit Cloonan is listed this way of the ship manifest but census records have her as Celia. If anyone can see a connection, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Carol Notify Administrator about this message?
