There are several places to search. 1st, I use the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 11,500,000 surviving rcds for abt 60% of Irish counties. Eventually it will cover all Ireland. Rcds B4 1840 are sparse. 2nd, you can visit an LDS Family History Center. The LDS microfilmed the parish registers starting in the 1940s. 3rd, the National Library of Ireland has microfilms as well. 4th, for Cork (south), parts of Tipperary, the City of Dublin, Kerry, Clare and Monaghan, the church authorities still hold the rcds.

Google the Foundation's name to lead you to the database. For example, for Edward Corcoran B 1834 +/- 3 yrs, I found 5 B rcds: 2 in Roscommon (1836), 1 in Kildare (1831), 1 in Kilkenny (1832), and 1 in Tyrone (1833). Remember, there is less than a 60% chance that the database contains the correct rcd. Hopefully, you will have other info by which you can validate the rcd.
