Dear Sheila

A second response - I've just tracked down Godfrey Wills Berry's death - it *was* in 1868 in the July/August/September Quarter. I've sent for the certificate and will let you know the exact date and so on when I get it. This must be right, over and above the name being specific - the death was registered in Medway. Frederick Gardiner at that time was the Assistant Chaplain to the convict prison at Chatham in Medway - so Godfrey and Sarah may have been staying with them (or Godfrey may even have been a medical person at the convict prison). The index says that Godfrey was aged 69 years at death.

Yet again, I found this by looking directly in the original indexes, rather than the transcribed ones - where he doesn't appear - even if you put in the exact year and quarter.

Best wishes,

Chris
