Hi Sheila,

Just back from Scotland! That's very interesting news about the extra information and about the other person who contacted you - I'm very happy for her to contact me and would be really interested in the photo.

I've now got Godfrey Wills Berry's death certificate - he died on the 14th August 1868 of "Fatty degeneration of the heart" - in St Mary's Vale, Gillingham, Kent. The Rev'd Frederick Gardiner (my great grandfather's older brother and Godfrey's son-in-law) was present at the death. Godfrey is listed as "retired surgeon" - but of course that you already know that.

I've also got Katherine North and William Gardiner's marriage certificate - 18th January 1876 - a new fact to me is that William was a widower by this stage - so the earlier child, Beryl, would have been by his first wife. Her father is listed as John Roger North, "Secretary to the Royal Bank of Ireland".

I realise that some of this you may already know, and that not all of it will be of interest to you - do let me know if I am giving you too much information.

Best wishes,

Chris
