I emailed a bunch of Jewishgen. researchers yesterday who are offering their services on investigating relevant Bronshteyns from Moldova (my father's last name), and one of the researchers replied to me this morning, suggesting that some of the members of that family about may reside in Israel. Well, we have a lot of relatives in Israel, of course, as for the ones who actually have the last name of Bronshteyn, I will tell you that my father's twin brother, Genadiy, definitely bears (or bore?) this last name, and he moved to Israel with his family a long time ago.
Genadiy's father, Chaim Bronshteyn, had two sisters, and although both of them had children, there is no way those children bear last names of those sisters. That pretty much rules out Chaim (1915-1886), and his two sisters- Liza, and Hannah Bronshteyns from Beltsy, Moldova because Genadiy has a daughter, not a son, and we don't know whether even Genadiy himself is alive.
That means that unless Chaim's father had one or more brothers-who in their turn-fathered sons-who would be about 65 right now, and if those have male descendants themselves with the same last name, then, (I hope I wasn't too confusing for you), these will be another people specifically carrying this last name. As far as Chaim's relatives, whom we don't know of yet, are concerned but who do not carry this last name, we will be glad to hear from them as well because we know that Hannah is supposed to have at least one son in Israel, as for Liza-she had at least one son who is an invalid. Maybe Chaim's father had one or more sisters whose children will not be carrying the last name of Bronshteyns, but who are our relatives anyway.
To sum this confusing account up, if Chaim has some relatives in Israel (especially if they could enlighten me on the background of his family before the 20th century), then by all means email me, I will be glad to hear from them.
