I'm 2g-grandaughter of Elizabeth J.W. Israel and John A.D. Martin. Elizabeth was the daughter of George Nelson Israel and Indiana Lance (Lentz). I have seen a rumor that George's g-grandfather Solomon Israel (b. ca 1713 in Amsterdam, Netherlands and d. ca. 1795 in Wilkes Co. NC) was Jewish. Does anyone here know if there is any truth to the rumor that this family was Jewish? Thanks in advance for your time. --Lynne
