Hi, Lori!
Thanks for replying. Memphis is the place where most of my Cianciola/o's ended up. However they did stay for a short time in Chicago until my grandfather as a child developed pneumonia and was advised to move south for the sake of his health.
As far as pronouncing the name--in italian it is correctly pronounced as Chahn-choh-luh accent on the second syllable. However, because of the way it was pronounced as they came through the Processing Center at Ellis Island, the family pronounces it as See-an-see-oh-luh.
My family came from Termini to Palermo to the USA. Are you any kin to Father Paul St. Charles who was in Memphis for a while?
