Surname SEMFT (Jewish?)

Information I have gives an ANNA SEMFT, daughter of JACOB SEMFT from Teintz (Tynec), which is south of Prague, CZ, as godparent of Waclaw Karel Breburda, baptized Catholic in 1832, also in Teinice (Tynec). Is the SEMFT name Jewish? I know I have seen some indication that it can be. But would a Jewish woman become the godparent of a Catholic child? Perhaps she herself was a convert, but this is precisely what I would like to find out concerning my Breburdas. The fact that Anna Semft ("if" Jewish) was close enough my ancestors to have been the godmother of one of their children would indictate a close family connection--the Semfts would have been friends or perhaps even family members.
