Dennis, it doesn't seem to jive with what I have, but is probably more accurate. I have Gabriel John as John J. and that he was born about 1856 in TN, the son of Richard Ratliff Jowell & Mary Jane Maddox, and grandson of Gabriel Joel/Jowell & Rebecca Abercrombie (both born in SC, both died in MS).
The info I have says that John was buried at Mitchell Cememtery in Clay Co, Arkansas with dates 1882-1975. And that his second wife was Sally Reid. What were your father's & grandfather's names? You can write to me direct if you want.
