Hello All Kuruc/Kurucz, i recently had a search done on my clan and will post below. If there is a connection to you, you can email me.
Report from research.
Great-grandfather Joannes Kurucz was born 23 JUL 1871 in village Slanec, which is situated about 10 miles north-west from Brezina, his parents were Petrus Kurucz and Maria Hajduk. Petrus Kurucz was greek-catholic and Maria Hajduk was roman-catholic.
I found these children of Petrus Kurucz and Maria Hajduk:
Andreas, born 29 OCT 1862 in Miklos-Puszta /close Slanec/
Joannes, born 22 JUN 1865 in Slanec, died 12 NOV 1866
Michael, born 8 DEC 1867 in Slanske Nove Mesto
JOANNES, born 23 JUL 1871 in Slanec
Gyorgy, born 27 FEB 1874 in Bercz Major /now part of Slivnik/,died 28 SEP 1875
Pal, born 30 OCT 1876 in Bercz Major /now part of Slivnik/
I did not find marriage of Petrus Kurucz and Maria Hajduk, I tried find it in many church records from villages close Brezina, but no success. As you see, Petrus Kurucz and Maria Hajduk, moved from village to village and their children were born in 4 villages.
I found one interesting thing, I found marriage of some Joannes Kurucz and Julia Palusko, they got married 16 NOV 1862 in village Kuzmice, he was Rusyn and greek-catholic and he was from Rusyn village Lukov, this village is situated close town Bardejov in Rusyn area.
I found these children of Joannes Kurucz and Julia Palusko:
Mihaly, born 6 JAN 1864
Anna, born 21 MAR 1872
Gyorgy, born 27 APR 1878
Janos, born 29 MAR 1865
There do not live any Kurucz in village Kuzmice, it seems that this Kurucz family moved away from this village or there are not any descendants of this family.
I found only one marriage of Petrus Kurucz and Maria Hajduk children, I found that their son Mihaly Kurucz/born in 1867/ got married to Maria Titko, they got married 6 NOV 1893 in Brezina. I was told that Mihaly Kuruc was killed in WWI.
I did not find marriage of Joannes Kurucz and Anna Horkai, your living relatives said that they got married in USA, where was born their the first son, who died as child.
Your relatives said that Anna Horkai came from small village Bysta, which situated close Brezina.
I was told that Joannes Kurucz and Anna Horkai had these children:
Andrew, born in USA
Jan, born in Brezina
Michal, born in USA
Peter, born in USA
Maria, born in Brezina
Anna, born in Brezina
Church records from Brezina after year 1896 do not exist, they were lost or damaged. There exist roman-catholic church records from village Slivnik, where roman-catholics from village Brezina belonged to, but I did not find death record of Maria Hajduk. She was roman-catholic, but maybe he was buried by greek-catholic priest from Brezina. Your ancestors have only very limited information, I asked if they know something about Petrus Kurucz, but they said that they do not know anything about him.
It will be possible find something in state records, but I need your authorization for research in these records. I think that your g-g-grandfather Petrus Kurucz came from Rusyn village Bardejov, because as I mentioned you, I found marriage of some Janos Kuruc, who came from village Livov, maybe they were borthers, who decided move to south from Carpathian mountains.
Your relatives told me, that Anna Horkai died in 1932 in age of 52 years. She died in village Plechotice during tragical accident, their coach drawn by horses met a car in village Plechotice, hoses were stampede from car and they started to gallop and they upturn coach and Anna Horkai was seriously injured. Local priest gave her last Sacrament and she died.

The first living relatives, which I found in Brezina were Michal and Jozef Kuruc. They are brothers, their father was Michal Kuruc, who was born 23 AUG 1923, died 6 JUN 1990. His father was Andrew Kuruc, brother of your grandfather, his mother was Alzebeta Pavlovicova, who died in 1963 /suicide/.
Michal Kuruc and Anna Onder have these children:
Michal, born 23 DEC 1948
Jozef, born 29 JAN 1952
Both borthers got married in the same day, when they got married, their grandfather Andrew Kuruc came from USA to their wedding, he was there with his wife.
Wife of Michal Kuruc is Margareta Kurucova-Horvathova, she was born 3 JUN 1952, she is mayor of village Brezina.
Michal Kuruc is Margareta Kurucova-Horvathova have these children:
Margareta, born 19 MAY 1972
Michal, born 20 OCT 1974
Their daughter Margareta got married to Henrich Kele, they had two daughters Petra /b.1998/ and Paula /b.2000/, they live in Germany, Henrich is a doctor there in Germany.
Their son Michal is single and live in Bratislava.
Wife of Jozef Kuruc is Maria Obsitosova, she was born 11 JUL 1953.
Jozef Kuruc and Maria Kurucova-Obsitosova have these children:
Jozef, born 1 NOV 1973
Miroslav, born 25 DEC 1975
Jozef got married to Maria Vasilova, they have two children, Jozef and Dominik.
Miroslava got married to Lucia Kondasov and they have two children:
Samuel, born 22 DEC 1998 and Sofia, born 12 DEC 2001.
I was visit daughter of Anna Kuruc, who was sister of your grandfather. Name of his daughter is Maria Vojtkova, she was born 15 MAR 1930. Her mother Anna Kuruc was born 29 SEP 1910 and died in 1996. Husband of Anna Kuruc went to Argentina and he has never came back and nobody knows, who happened to him, but it seems that he got married again there in Argentina.
Maria Vojtkova has two children:
Janka, who lives in Kosice
Stefan, who lives in Brezina, very close to Maria Votkova
I visited another your relative, her name is Maria Kusnirova, she is daughter of Jan Kuruc, who was brother of your grandfather. Jan Kuruc was born 6 JUL 1913 and died 10 OCT 2001. Name of his wife was Anna Titkova, born 22 AUG 1914, died 24 MAR 1988.
Jan Kuruc had these children:
Stefan, born in 1942, he is a doctor there in USA
Maria Kusnirova, born in 1946.
Maria Kusnirova has these children:
Marcel
Gabriela
Olga /she was in USA recently/
Maria
Peter
Your relatives said to say hello to you, you are wellcomed visit them, nobody from children Michal and Jozef Kuruc live there in Brezina, so if you decide stayed in their houses, you will have free one floor for you, they are very happy, that you are interested about them. They are very kind people. I took their photographs and you can see them on enclosed CD, they gave me some photographs from Andrew trip in Czechoslovakia.
