Lebanon was under the ottoman empire from 1516 to 1918 the actual Lebanon took place under the french protectorate in 1923 and they called him: Great Lebanon. Under the Ottoman empire, mount Lebanon always had certain autonomy but it was not known as a sovereign country, neither Syria anyway. But they used to call the whole region including actual Palestine and Jordan: Syria. All of our ancesters who came to this country before 1923 used Syrian as origin even if they came from mount Lebanon. So you don`t have to mix between Syria the actual country and Syrian before 1923.
