Good Afternoon Fascinating to hear from you and to know of all the research being carried out in America. I have only very recently started my own research. I have no known relatives on the Leonard side of my family apart from my own son to refer to for "word of mouth" history. 1) I strongly agree with the Monmouthshire connection. I suspect that "my" Warwickshire Leonards will connect directly to Monmouthshire. It's the right part of the country - at the time of the industrial revolution there was a movement of agricultural workers towards the central midlands. 2) I doubt that "my" Leonards have an Irish connection. And I think you are probably right about the names, neither Daniel nor Samuel seem particularly "Irish". The family has been Church of England as far back as I know for certain, however, I need to check out the denomination of some of the churches where family baptisms were registered. 3) I am planning to follow 2 lines of thought that I think may prove useful: a) I suspect that "my" Leonards may have been represented in the early crossing to America from Plymouth and the South West of the country. There certainly were Leonards in that area, it would easily link to Bristol, and Monmouthshire is local. b) I have a feeling that in the dim and distant past one of my elderly aunties mentioned Quakers in the family. If you come across Leonards with a connection to gun manufacturing it would be interesting to know as the Warwickshire family were deeply involved from generation to generation. There was a family company with premises in Birmingham and London. Kind regards Ann Leonard Notify Administrator about this message?
