Hi Ann,

Unfortunately I don't go on the Forum too often these days but I saw your message and the replies you received. There is an huge amount of material on the American Leonards as many have traced their forebears back to two brothers who left England and started the ironmaking industry there. My brother and I are related to the present day Americans (about 12th cousins)but as yet we have not established the common ancester though we are getting close.

Some of Leonards you mention in your posting are my direct male line forebears as my grandfather Walter Daniel was the son of Henry and Ann and Henry was the son of Daniel and Louisa. I have records of many family members and access to others.

The Leonards were gunmakers with fathers, sons, uncles cousins etc. all working in the Birmingham trade. Henry Leonard's guns are still much sought, after especially in the US.

Regards
Stuart Leonard
