My husband's grandmother, Martha Matilda (Holt) French Lyle's oldest sister, Elizabeth Holt, married James and Catherine (Lacy) Love's son, William Love. William and Elizabeth are buried in Mt. Horeb cemetery. Martha and Elizabeth were children of Christopher Holt and his wife, Mary Averitt. The Lyle, Holt and French families intermaried several times. Joy Budde's Lyle family are also my husband's. Thomas Lyle, came from Rutherford Co., N.C. in 1821 and settled on south side of the Holston on Dumplin Creek. My husband's grandmother's first husband was Ephraim French, son of Augustus French and his wife Kezziah Wilcoxson. Most of this French family are buried in Fain cemetery, as is my husband's great grandfather, Robert Lyle. My husband's parents, along with two of martha's brothers, George Holt and John Wesley Holt and my husband's grandfather, Samuel Lyle went to The Red River valley in Texas, in the early 1890's and then to Oklahoma in 1905, with some of the Holts later moving back to Texas.
