You're right, this isn't about my GW Love. I've found more data on mine since I posted this query and I've determined that my GW was born in KS!
To answer yours:
To me it reads that James age 52 and James age 24 in 1850 are father/ son. This explains how Amanda could be born ten years before the marriage of James age 24.
When Malinda appears with the younger James, she is part of his household in 1870. To me, the older James has died and mom has gone to live with her son.
Juliet is a mystery. She may have been a gdau or niece of the older James. She may have been an indentured servant or orphan living with them. Since she isn't listed with a separate last neme, I'd guess that she was related by blood in some way.
Thanks for replying to my quest and GOD SPEED to all who read this. Let it be a lesson about the hazards of NO DOCUMENTATION. If you don't AUTHENTICATE (Truth) your ancestor as you take each step, a mess (Lie) develops.
