I am interested in the Lucas family from the Fordington (Dorchester) area. I know my great-grandfather Walter Lucas Smith was born in Dorchester in 1876. His Parents were James Smith (born Axminster) and Mary Lucas, the 1881 census gives her birth year as 1836 but according to the 1851 census the only Mary Lucas born in Fordington was in 1843, There is a Baptism record for a Mary Lucas in Fordington for 1843 parents John Lucas, mother Ann Clark, could this be the same Mary Lucas or different one. Any information would be appreciated.
