Hi, Where does MN. come in regarding your search? My relatives James H. Lucas b. Rome NY. & wife Jennie (y) Tompkins b. Chicago IL. lived in St Paul, MN. in the 1880's. My grandmother Hattie Lucas, was born in St Paul in 1881. My Lucas was a photographer there, but I have heard of Lucas Brothers that owned a tinware and stove business around the same time. And a Charles Lucas with wife Hattie was recorded in the 1870 census for Minn. MN. and I think they may be relatives. It's a guess though.
I too can't seem to get any further back then this.
