Sharon:

I assume that you mean Thomas came from Ireland to New England, then Canada in about 1850. If so, I have a record of a Thomas Lucas living in Hamilton, Ontario, as a blacksmith in 1871. It shows him as being 40 years of age at the time of the 1871 census, which would mean his year of birth was either 1830 or 1831, depending on the month of his birth. The census records show he was born in Ireland. He married Jane and I have a number of children listed.

My connection is through my mother's mother. The Thomas Lucas noted above had a son named Thomas Jr., who married a Mary Ann ____?___. My grandmother, Lillian Lucas was born to Mary Ann in 1893. Until recently we thought that Thomas Jr. was her father, but I now know that he was killed by a train in 1889. Her actual father is now a mystery.

Please let me know if you think this may be a match and I'll provide more information.
