Susan Virginia Thorne, orphan daughter of Elizabeth Rebecca (Lucas) Goodall- Thorne- Worcester, married Thomas Gott in Huntsville, TX May 11, 1851. They moved to Montgomery County, TX and had five children, James P. Gott, Mary Ocey Gott, Tom Green Gott, Robert Gott and Albert Goodall Gott. Their last child being born December 30, 1872, the same month his father, Thomas Gott, died. Thomas Gott had served in a CSA Texas unit during the Civil War. After Thomas Gott's death Susan V. Gott moved to the pre-Rosebud, Falls County, Texas area where she lived out the rest of her life. Susan died Feb. 29, 1912 and is buried in the Woodland Cemetery in Rosebud, TX. Her headstone reads, "Mrs. S.V. Gott, Nov. 11, 1834 - Feb. 29, 1912"
Susan Virginia Thorne only got to know her older half siblings, James Pleasant Goodall, Albert G. Goodall, Caroline Goodall, Martha Goodall, Mary Goodall and Oceana Seaborne Goodall when she was in her teens. James and Albert Goodall are both known to have in Texas and to have contributed to her and her children's well being after her husband, Thomas Gott, died.
