Walter and Elsie were my great-grandparents. I am the grandaughter of Ida Katherine Lucas Boots. She married Henry Earl Boots. I believe they married in Iola, KS, or in the near area, not sure of the year. Both have passed on, 1989 or 1990? Grandma in Springdale, AR; Grandpa in Berryville, AR. They had just moved there from Iola, Ks. They are both buried in Mapleton. They had 4 sons; Richard Dale Boots, who died at about 7 years old in the barn fire in Iola KS; Henry Edward Boots,living; Robert Lee Boots, passed in 1999?; James Allen Boots and a daughter Myla Boots, both living.
Levah or Aunt Sissie as she was know to all of us, married Clarence Gilham, again not sure of the year. They have passed as well. They are buried in Mapleton, KS. They have son David Gilham; daughter Virginia,not sure of her married name; daughter Karen, not sure of her married name. Son Tommy Gilham will have a lot of information if he visits this site. Genevieve lived in OK City where she passed away. Walter Roy lived in Nebraska, he has passed on- he married Patty... I can't recall her last name but she was also from the Southeast Kansas area. Derril Eugene Lucas, still living;and Yvonne Lucas, or Wannie as I knew her, is living in Fort Scott James Cager Lucas, my grandmother always spoke of a Cager Lucas but she never said he was her brother. Perhaps he was a child when he died? I remember Charles Nickelson from when I was younger but I don't have any info on him. I remember he lived in a small town north of Iola. I believe there are several of Nickelson family buried in Mapleton as I remember my grandmother, Katherine, showing me some of the markers when we buried her father. this is what I know of my great-grandparents side of the family. I should know more since they have been a great part of my life, but many stories I don't remember. I hope to learn more from others of us out there. Thanks
