Hi Susan, many thanks for looking up this information and messaging me, you are kind.

Christopher Reed is actually Christopher REID, my dad's father b. 1872 Liverpool but his parent's were James Reid and Elizabeth Smith. Their marriage certificate gives their father's names and occupations (as usual) but no birthplaces - which is my problem as I have no idea where any of the adults were born. The only hint I do have is that, if Charles and Mary Lucas were my grandfather's uncle and aunt and they were both Irish, then maybe all my Dad's family were of irish descent.

My Dad always said he was part Scottish, part Irish and we know his mum's side were of irish descent.

The only other 'clue' is that the family lived in the Scotland area of Liverpool and my own Dad's birth certificate actually says he was born in Scotland, Liverpool, Lancs.

Confusing, isn't it, but back then, because Liverpool was still a thriving port, it was sectioned off into ghettos and newbies coming into Liverpool to settle tended to go to their own people!

Thanks anyway for trying to help and I've copied the information into my family history files for further consideration.

Many thanks, Maureen
