Charles Stowell Mallory

Death Claims Former Farmer After Short Illness

Charles Stowell Mallory who for nearly a year had operated Frank J Stowell’s farm, formerly the Murray Farm in the Island District of Fowler , died at 10 o’clock Saturday night, following a short illness, due to paralysis, aged 61 years, 5 months, and 5 days. One day in the forepart of last week he lost the index finger of his left hand while operating a ______cutter, but he was able to be about until until Friday evening although suffering more or less from a severe cold. Saturday morning his condition became more serious and he sank rapidly until the end.

Mr. Mallory was born near Potsdam July 21, 1866 and his early life was spent in that section. He came to this village about 30 years ago and for some time was employed in the tail mill below Natural Dam. He later followed farming for a few years after which he moved to a farm near Alexandria Bay where he remained until nearly a year ago when he returned to this section and leased the Stowell Farm.

He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Minnie Robinson who died many years ago. His second wife was Amelia Robinson of Canada who has been dead a number of years. Since coming to the Stowell Farm, Mr. Mallory has been assisted by his son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shaw. Besides his daughter, he is survived by a half-brother, William Mallory who resides in the west and three half-sisters Mrs. May Brinsbal (Brinshal?) and Mrs. Helen Russell who live in Minneapolis, Minn., and another who lives in Chicago.

Funeral Services were conducted at the late home at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon by Rev. H.C. Campbell of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the body was placed in the Riverside vault until Spring when burial will probably be made at LaFargeville. (Orleans co NY)
