Asa Earl Markel was my ggfather, born 10-28-1850 Lafayette IN. Married Margaret Ellen Stuart 2-25-1893. Probably second wife. Three children that I have had some contact with are Faith Markel DOB 4-12-1893 in Lafayette IN, my father's mother. Frank Markel died before 1961, but after 1947 - in Atlanta, GA. Edwin Markel DEB 11-06-1899 lived on a farem in south central Kansas in 1953. Asa had other children that I can't verify Grace (1880), Metta, Helen, Glenn, Karl and John. Asa's father was Jacob Markel NFI who married Salina Earl (a family name passed on to my father - Earl William Bird/changed to William Earl Bird. My information is spotty and confusing - showing Asa in IA and other western states before Indiana. In about 1925 Faith went back east to live with her father when her own marriage fell apart - at a farm he owned in New Jersey that he sold in the late 1920's. Sorry this is such a long post, but a short one 2 years ago got no hits.
