Thank you Judith,

I only recently found out that this lady's maiden name was Markle, after looking for several years. She was married to James Marshall McDanald, son of John McDonald and Elizabeth Hannay. I know that Elizabeth Hannay was born in Wigtown, Scotland in 1800. John McDonald was born in 1794, possibly also from Wigtown. Some sources say James Marshall McDanald was born there, but the 1880 census says that both James Marshall McDanald and Sarah Frances were born in PA and they were living in Kittanning at the time.

The four children of James and Sarah are Lidia McDanald, James Alexander Hays McDanald and John McDonald. They were all born in Western PA.

Some of the family went by McDanald and some went by McDonald. The census reports the name as McDanold.

It sounds possible that our ancestors were siblings or cousins. If you have any leads or further info, please let me know.

Can you give me the names of the parents on the birth certificate so I can see if I find a connection?

Thanks!
