Can any one fit this person into their MATHENY family? I have no proof of anything. I am not even certain of her surname. I think she has some connection to the James and Mary MATHENY family of NC and TN. James born 1777 in Montgomery, NC and died about 1850 in Roane, TN. Children of this family were William 1798, Thomas Blackstone about 1800, A.R. b. 1808, James, and Joseph. I believe that Catherine might be a daughter in this famiy as her birth date and state fit. Regardless of her surname, she married Unknown WRIGHT and children thought to belong to the couple are:
Mary J. Bugg WRIGHT b. Oct 1823, J. Freeman WRIGHT b. Sep 1825, Jane E. WRIGHT born 1833, Thomas WRIGHT 1837, James W. WRIGHT 1839, Franklin L. WRIGHT born 1843. All of these childre were born in GA and Catherine is found as a widow on 1850 census under name of Catherine WEVER/WEAVER (probably). The surname is NOT listed for the three children given, Jane, Thomas and Franklin. BUT on the 1860 AL census, Catherine WEAVER is shown with Jane WRIGHT and Franklin L. WRIGHT living at Division 2, De Kalb, AL. So I believe the children were all born with the Wright surname and that perhaps the Wright husband died about 1845 and Catherine remarried to a WEAVER husband between 1845 and 1850 who also died before 1850. Mary Bugg WRIGHT married Jeremiah Asa BAKER in GA and moved on to AR. J. Freeman WRIGHT married Margaret S. HAGLER, but died young in Dekalb, AL. Jane E. WRIGHT married Thomas BRYANT b. 1826, GA as his second wife and moved on to AR. I do not know where they married if in GA or AR. Thomas WRIGHT, I cannot trace. He was last found living with his brother Freeman WRIGHT in GA for the 1850 census. Both were single at the time. James W. WRIGHT married Sarah Wade CYPERT and lived in AR. Franklin L. WRIGHT, I cannot trace. He was last found on the 1860 AL census. If you can help me contact any descendant of any line of this family, I would be greatly appreciative:
