In the 1900 census record for Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa, there's an Everet Matheny living in the home of Garrett Orahood and his wife Mary Elizabeth Birch Shafer Orahood. I think Everet's name is indexed as Mathews but in the 1905 state census, he's living either in the same household or next door and it's clear. He's listed in 1900 as grandson to the head-of-household. And according to this, he was born in Iowa, his father in Ohio, and his mother in Iowa. Trying to find out who his parents were. Garret's daughters names were Lena Leota, Harriet M., Mittie May, and Mary B.
