I don't know where you got your information on Mercy W. Maxim. However, it appears as though the Mercy that married Moses Barrows would be Mercy, daughter of Jesse and Mercy Maxim, born Wareham, 2 Mar [or May in one version] 1816 (previously cited Lincoln transcript, Town Book 2 page 277). This would be a somewhat more likely age to be marrying in Oct. 1837 [age 21], rather than a Mercy who was born in 1821 [age 16]. The same Wareham record shows the other children for Jesse and Mercy beginning in 1797, Mercy being the youngest. The same Wareham source, Book 1 page 253, shows marriage intentions for Jesse Muxham of Wareham and Mary (sic) Wordsworth of Plymouth in 1796. These intentions are also shown [more accurately] in the published Plymouth vital records, page 285, as Jesse Muxsom of Wareham and Mercy Wadsworth of Plymouth, dated 13 Jan 1797. This would also explain the middle initial "W" for Mercy. This information also agrees with that in Mercy's second marriage record in Carver [born in Wareham, father's name Jesse], except for her age [30], which would indicate a birth year ca. 1819.
