FARMINGTON — Roland A. "Rollie" Maxim Jr., 76, of Wilton, died Friday evening, Aug. 2, 2002, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

He was born March 15, 1926, in Wilton, a son of Roland A. and Josephine (Rackliff) Maxim Sr. He attended North Jay and Jay schools before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a longtime employee of both the Wilton Woolen Mill and Farmington Shoe. He enjoyed his lawn sales, food, and was an avid stock car racing fan on both the local and national levels. He collected several diecast models of his favorite drivers.

He is survived by his mother of Farmington; a sister, Emma Mosher and her husband Herbert Sr. of Farmington; a sister-in-law, Amy Maxim of Chesterville; two nieces, DeAnna Ridley and her husband Donald Sr. of Farmington and Joline Maxim of Chesterville; five nephews, Steve Mosher and his wife Peggy of Farmington, Herbert Mosher Jr. and his wife Diane of Temple, Michael Mosher and his wife Suzanne of Chesterville, Terry Mosher and his wife Maureen of Farmington, and Darryl Maxim and his wife Becky of Chesterville.

He was predeceased by his father, an infant brother, Frankie, and a brother, Martin.

Family and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at the Wiles Funeral Home, 136 High St., Wilton. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton.
