I'm looking for info on Mathew McGough b. abt 1831 in Ireland and immigrated abt 1855 to US. He served in the Civil war as family lore goes he was in the Union Army then deserted in Nashville and joined the Confederates. After the war he married Catherine Flemming and stayed in Nashville before moving to Chattanooga then Huntsville, AL and settling in Birmingham, AL. His death certificate names father as Patrick and Mother as Mary but only the Free State of Ireland as birth place. Family lore also has it that he worked a bakery named Barney Hughes Bakery in Belfast before he came here. Any info on ancestors would be a great help!
