Since I last posted, I have found some new info on the McNeil family. Frederic W. McNeil married Sara Brooks (not Jessie). They lived in Elmira, NY and then in Hammondsport, NY. This was Sara's second marriage-she had a son, Howard Brooks by her first marriage. She met Howard's father in Manistique, MI where she was living with a family, doing their sewing. She and Frederic adopted my father, Frederic W. McNeil, Jr. in 1922. I am interested in both Sara and Fred Sr's backgrounds and also in any info about the adoption of my father. I do know that Fred Sr's father's name was Frank and he had a brother Frank and a sister Eleanor. Thanks for any help.
