Hey Heather. My name is Donald Keith McNeil II. My Father is Donald Keith McNeil, his father was Franklin Donald McNeil, and His father was my great grandfather, Leo McNeill. We've all lived in Paducah, KY for many years. I still remember being a very young child and going over to "Daddy Leo and Aunt Dot's" house. I think the reason we dropped the last "L" from our name was because of a screw up on F. Don's birth certificate. You actually have more information than I do regarding Daddy Leo's parentage. Until I read this post, I was unaware of the names of my GG and GGG Grandfathers. Thanks for the info. I do know that supposedly the first McNeil of our lineage was named Hector and he settled here from Scotland in the 1700's. He's buried in a field on some private property on McNeil-Alsip Road near the Graves/McCracken County line. His tombstone was pretty beat up when I saw a picture of it in the 1980's. I think my grandfather, Don, might have a rubbing of it, but I can't be sure. I think Hector's date of death was in 1752, but once again, I'm not truly sure. It's been a long time since I've had access to any of the materials. I do believe he is descended from the MacNeils of Barra. Do a web search for Kisimul Castle if you've never checked it out. It's our Clan's ancestral home. If you need any help with anything, I'd be glad to offer any info that I can. Be aware though, that I haven't spoken to the McNeil side of the family in about 15 years. It was mainly due to an ugly divorce that my mom and dad went through, plus I seriously disapprove of how my father, Aunt, and Uncle had a tendency to cheat on their spouse. As far as I know, they are still unmarried except for my father who remarried a woman named Dorothy whom I've never met. That being said, I'll offer you whatever limited information I can. Hope this helps! Notify Administrator about this message?
