Hello Dean,
Sounds like you and I are looking in the same place. I have a social security record for James E. McNeil and alot of other historical documents for him. On his social security record, it shows that he was born in Arkansas. The date shows Nov. 22, 1880. But there have been many other references to the 1884 date. He was the son of Marion McNeil and Susan E. Carlton. They have 4 children - Delbert, Pauline, Hellen Lillian, and Jane Dorothy. His father, Marion McNeil was born in 1852 and Married Deborah Lynch. They had 2 other sons - George W. McNeil, born 1888, and William McNeil. His Father was James McNeil, born in 1805. The mother was Jerusha McNeil. They had many children - including Harriet, John McNeil, George, Eliza, Adeline, William, James (1846), Jerusha (1847), and Marion (1852). I have census records to show those records. Census records confirm that Harriet, John, George were born in Tennessee. Eliza and Adeline...I don't know. William, James were both born in Arkansas and lived in Union Izard Arkansas. Jerusha was born in Mississippi in 1847. Then Marion, the youngest, was born in 1852 in Arkansas.

Harriet had three kids - Jerusha, James and George - born in TN. John McNeill had a wife, Jane from AK. They had children Pehoebe, James and Wlater. George was married to a different Jane from AK. They had 2 children - Jerush & William from Arkansas. For the rest, I don't have much data.
