Thomas Skinner owned a property in Charles County called Dorchester Enlarged. About 1837 he left it to his son William. William did the patent in 1765 and he left it to his son Thomas but Williams wife Ann paid the taxes in 1783. Thomas's will in 1797 left property to his daughter and his son Euel Skinner who was executor. Euel (variously evall, ewell, ewel among others over the years) was in the War of 1812 in 43rd Reg. (ancestry is wrong in saying 3rd Reg.) in Capt Brown's Company. He apparently died in the 1830's. I haven't found a will, if he was intestate there would still be some paper trail on his heirs. Clement Skinner lives on the property or nearby in 1840. Does any of this connect to anybody else? There were several Skinners in Charles County (several in Capt. Brown's company including Sylvestor and Oliver). On the 1790 Charles County census, my skinner is Thomas of William. There are several Skinners in the area from at least the time of the 1783 taxes as there is a group including Ann on the Dorchester Enlarged and several in the immediate area. There are a lot of skinners in 1800 and 1820 but none in 1810 (census very suspect). The following is the tax list from 1783:
