Ada Stella Tunnell Roberts, 90, formerly of 1416 Miller
St., Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, passed away peacefully
Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at the St. Mary's Hospital in
Indiana.
Ada was born in Keokee, VA, and later moved to Hawkins Co
TN. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah
'Tennessee' Morelock Tunnell. She was married June 9, 1934
to Sherman Grant Roberts from Kingsport, where they lived
and raised a beautiful family together. She enjoyed a
career as a nurse for Holston Ordinance Corp. Also worked
for Oakwood Supermarket on N. Eastman Rd, Kingsport, TN.
Ada and her late husband Sherman operated the concession
stand at the American Legion Pool for more than 20 years
until 1958. She was loved and will be missed by all who
knew her.
She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and the
American Legion of Kingsport.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded
in death by a son, Sherman Grant 'Junior' Roberts Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Harry (Peggy Joyce)
Kimberling, Mount Gilead, OH, and Mrs. Don (Shelby Jean)
Anderson, Murfreesboro, TN; nine grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2002
at East Lawn Funeral Home, Kingsport, TN.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in
East Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Lindsay
officiating.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family asks those desiring may make memorials to the
Glenwood Baptist Church, 2601 E. Center St., Kingsport, TN.
