I had got to where I could not find anything on my Mosley/Mosely/Moseley direct line, and out of sheer desperation, remembered that my grandmother's maiden name had been spelled Morley when they listed the birth date of her oldest daughter. I tried that and broke through the brick wall. What is weird, is that the information that is listed for Jerry Moseley in the 1850 and 1860 Claiborne Co., TN censuses has the same places, first names - and places that Jeremiah Morley has in his information - were identical to the Morley information. Jeremiah/Jerry's father's name was George Washington Morley, and Jerry's mother was Mary Last Name Unknown. George Washington Morley's father was George Washington Morley, SR., and he was married to a Mary Brown from either MD or VA. Jeremiah/Jerry and his wife migrated to Bell Co., KY and had four more children - Margaret, Jane, Susan and my gr-grandfather Samuel M. Mosely/Mosley/Moseley. I have seen his last name spelled these ways in different copies of different records. Jerry and Nancy are listed with the Mosley last name in Knox Co., KY in 1900, and I have lost track of them since then. I believe the reason Jerry and Nancy's last name were spelled four different ways is because they were illiterate. My remaining mysteries are: 1. What was Jerry's mother's maiden name? 2. And what was Jerry's wife's maiden name? I suspect Madon, have seen her maiden name as Maiden, Madon, and Mailer. She was born sometime between 1829-1839, in Tn. I apologize for this being so long-winded but wondered if anyone had any info past George Sr. and his wife Mary Brown? One source says George Sr. was born in Va, another source says George Sr. had English parents, and a third says George Sr. was born in Ireland. Thank you all in advance for your help.
