I am researching an old sampler which I have inherited which was stitched in 1828 by one Nancy Nagel, daugher of Margaret and Frederic W. Nagel (born in 1792). I have tracked them down through church records to the Easton, Pennsylvania, area. Margaret Nagel's maiden name was Hemphill. The Nagels had 8 children: William Frederick, Nancy, Mary Jane, Catherine (d. 1838), Elizabeth, Margaret, Caroline (d. 1838) and Lucinda. If anyone cares to look, there are a ton of Nagels in the records of the Orphans Court of Northampton County. Lehigh County was created out of Northampton County after 1812, and the sampler came from Allentown, Pa.
