I am looking at Ancestry.com's marriage lisc's right now and I find a William NANCE, W.M., age 45, marrying Martha A. TRAVIS, W. F., aged 25.
Marriage date is Jan. 12th, 1882, in Hamblen Co., TN.
It states that William NANCE was born in Grainger Co., TN.
Best I can figure, William was born about 1837.
(1882-45=1837), but now lives in KNOX CO,TN.
He is a brickmason.
It shows that Martha A. TRAVIS, was born in Jefferson Co., TN. but currently resides in Hamblen Co., TN.
(?)C. HODGES, J.P., preforms the ceremony.
I am researching the TRAVIS surname in Jefferson, Hamblen & Grainger Counites and I am trying to determine if this couple belongs in my family tree.
Any help on this couple, is greatly appreciated!
