Napoleonic Wars Forum

Sir,
I have been reading your forum messages regarding Napoleon and various other data pertaining to him and find that you are very knowledgable on that subject. May I ask a favor...I have been trying to find ANY information about a Karl Epple who was to have been a courier for Napoleon saving him from an assignation attempt. For Epple's heroic deed, he was granted a lifetime pension for himself and his family. The family(minus Karl)migrated to the Baltimore Maryland area in the mid 1850's. They are listed on the 1860 Federal Census but Karl is not there. Did he die prior to the migration or just before the census was taken? If he died prior to the migration, how do I go about tracing his demise?
Any help that you may be able to give me will be greatly appreciated.
