Dear Lesley

An interesting observation from the Scribe's Alcove transcription site for Berkeley GLS...

Aliases
Where an alias is recorded in the parish register, this is denoted by the presence of the alternative name enclosed in square brackets.

NAME: William Fryer [Humphries]
BURIED: 20 Apr 1773 at Berkeley ABODE: Peddington

NAME: Mary Fryer [Humphries]
BAPTISED: 24 Oct 1773 at Berkeley FATHER: William ABODE: Ham

Thus there are Fryers aka Humphries in Berkeley at around the time of Elizabeth Fryar's birth. So the question remains "Are Elizabeth Fryer and Elizabeth Humphries the same person ??"

Certainly if you cannot find a remarriage of Daniel or a death of Elizabeth Nelmes #1 then it's likely that they are...

Can anyone else shine a light on this question ?

Cheers

AL
