I have a small file on Reason Nelson.....believe the reference to Amanda Jane Nelson (Minick) came from the book "Tennessee 's Confederate Widows and their Families"...and from ny scribblings I believe it's saying, her husband was Reason Alexander Nelson born 1844 in Sullivan Co., Tennessee...and they married in 1872 and he died in 1909 in Sullivan co. Tn.......on her stats, it's saying she was born in Washington Co., Virginia in 1844 also...
From other sources, there was a Reason Nelson who married Jane Scott in Washington co., Va. in 1808...known children of this couple were:....William Nelson...a daughter who married a William Carrier... Jonathan T. Nelson......I know Jonathan's bunch stayed in Bristol, Tn.....he married a Jane..????..and their youngest son, John married a Mary Ellen(?) and they had a son, Robert, born in Bristol, Tn...
You'd think with an odd name like Reason, it'd be easy...but there were several (apparently_ Reason Nelsons...I believe he's a sideline of my Nelsons, that's why I've been researching him...as early as 1752 his name appears in Fairfax Co., Va. court records in a lawsuit against a Joshua Nelson.....then in 1759 he's on a surveyor's team in the Granville District of NC.....by 1769 he's in South Carolina..."Reason Nelson of St. Mark's Parish...he's in various other records in SC....Reason Nelson jr. appears with a John Drakeford in Craven Co. SC (St. Mark's Parish) in 1777.....the name John Drakeford was also in the Fairfax co., Va. court records with Ambrose Nelson being a witness for him against Joshua Nelson this was in 1749...
Some say the Reason Nelson who married the Jane Thomas was son of William Nelson...I have no proof....sorry
